Agatha Harkness made big waves in WandaVision and now she’s back to continue her journey in Agatha All Along three years later.
She was set up to be the villain and Wanda and Vision’s favorite nosy neighbour in Westview, New Jersey. But like all socially-maligned witches who allegedly steal sacred knowledge and practise dark magic in Salem, Massachusetts, she has an evolving story. Her name isn’t really Agnes, but Agatha Harkness, and she’s fallen victim to a malfunctioning spell after her coven turned against her for her transgressions. As a result, she’s been stripped of her powers.
With the help of a mysterious goth teen Billy, she assembles a coven to help her travel along the fraught Witches’ Road - a series of tests and trials, and finally free herself from the dreaded spell.
Starring Kathryn Hahn as Agatha and as Joe Locke as teen Billy Wiccan, there are many magical adventures and twists and turns to be had in Agatha All Along.
Notably, the show doesn’t tie things up in a bow at the end. In fact, some argue it raises more questions than answers. But that’s the joy of such a mercurial character. We find out the origins of Agnes the wicked witch and the Billy’s superpowers. In short, it opens new potential storylines for future series.
The intersectional character of Agatha Harkness spans WandaVision, Agatha All Along, and the upcoming Vision Quest.
