Screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller met at high school and began their filmmaking careers making a weekly live TV show at high school.

Their professional lives were forever changed when they met producer Toby Ascher who had this crazy idea of adapting a video game featuring a hedgehog called Sonic into a film series.
